Autonomous Police Committee Deploys 26 Citizens Aged 60 and Over
The 'Women's Safety Patrol,' which is responsible for patrolling the routes women take home in Ulsan, has been launched.
The Ulsan City Autonomous Police Committee will hold an inauguration ceremony for the Women's Safety Patrol at 3:30 p.m. on the 1st floor Citizen Hall of the City Council on the 5th, with more than 50 people in attendance, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Dukyum.
The Women's Safety Patrol was established to address the recent increase in crimes targeting women and to alleviate related concerns in the local community. The patrol consists of 26 Ulsan citizens aged 60 and above.
The main duties include patrolling routes women use to return home, guiding youth, identifying areas and environments in need of patrols such as alleyways, and reporting these to local governments and the police agency.
The patrol will operate in teams of three, covering eight routes designated as vulnerable areas in each district, five times a week during nighttime commuting hours (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.).
Kim Dukyum, Mayor of Ulsan, said, "We will focus our efforts on securing public safety to protect women, prevent crime factors in advance, and ensure the citizens' freedom of movement."
