Geumcheon-gu Provides New Student Enrollment Preparation Funds (200,000 and 300,000 KRW) Even if Attending Schools in Other Cities or Provinces

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will provide entrance preparation funds to new students of Geumcheon-gu who enrolled in elementary, middle, and high schools located outside of Seoul, and who have not received entrance preparation funds.

All elementary, middle, and high school students who enrolled in schools located in Seoul this year received entrance preparation funds at the beginning of the year. However, since schools outside of Seoul did not provide entrance preparation funds, this initiative is being promoted to support students who missed out on these benefits.

The "entrance preparation fund" is financial support that can be used to purchase necessary items such as school uniforms and educational books for new students. Elementary students receive Zero Pay gift certificates worth 200,000 KRW, while middle and high school students receive certificates worth 300,000 KRW.

The eligible applicants are Korean nationals registered as residents in Geumcheon-gu or foreigners who have designated Geumcheon-gu as their place of stay, and who enrolled in schools outside of Seoul this year. However, students who have already received support funds of a similar nature to the entrance preparation fund are excluded from eligibility.

The application period is until August 30, and applicants can download the application form from the Geumcheon-gu Office website under "Geumcheon News," fill it out, and submit it via email or visit the Education Support Division at the district office to submit it in person. The district office will verify eligibility requirements such as resident registration and duplicate support, and plans to disburse the funds in October.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We hope that many parents and students will show interest and apply for this project prepared to reduce the educational expenses burden on parents and realize universal educational welfare." He added, "We will continue to actively introduce customized education policies tailored to the needs of our residents to strengthen the public nature of education."
