Gonghwa 'Directly Targets' Harris
Amid controversy over cognitive decline following the first TV debate of the U.S. presidential candidates and increasing pressure to withdraw, President Joe Biden's election campaign has released a new ad targeting former President Donald Trump.

According to the American internet media Axios on the 3rd (local time), Biden's campaign launched the ad on the same day, attacking former President Trump by focusing on the U.S. Supreme Court's broad recognition of criminal immunity for actions taken during a former president's term.
The new Biden campaign ad stated, "Almost 250 years ago, America was founded on the belief that no one is above the law, not even the president. Until now," attacking former President Trump by saying he "led a rebellion and threatened to become a dictator from day one."
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on the 1st that actions taken by a former president during their term that fall within "decisive and exclusive constitutional authority" receive absolute immunity from criminal prosecution, while other "official acts" are presumed to be immune, but "unofficial acts" do not have immunity.
U.S. media pointed out that this ruling means that if former President Trump wins the November election and returns to the White House in January next year, one more constraint will be removed in executing controversial pledges.
The "dictator" remark mentioned in Biden's campaign ad came in response to Democratic criticism that former President Trump could become a dictator and pose a threat to democracy if he succeeds in his re-election bid.
Last December, former President Trump said in a broadcast, "You won't become a dictator, right?" to which he replied, "No. Except for the first day. On the first day, I will block the southern border with Mexico and expand oil drilling."
Later that same month, at a Republican dinner event, he said, "The New York Times reported today that I want to become a dictator. I never said that," adding, "I said I want to be a dictator for just one day. Do you know why I said I want to be a dictator? Because I want to build the border wall and resume oil drilling."
A Biden campaign official said this ad would be part of a $1 million election ad campaign focused on key battleground states.
The ad will be broadcast on channels with young and diverse audiences during high-viewership program times such as sports and news, including the American sports media ESPN, NBA broadcast network TNT, cable TV channel Bravo, and pay TV channel FX.
The Republican Party released a new digital ad targeting Vice President Kamala Harris, who is reportedly mentioned as the 'O rank' alternative candidate amid ongoing calls within the Democratic Party to replace the presidential candidate.
This ad shows images of President Biden stumbling or appearing confused, targeting President Biden, but the focus is on Vice President Harris.
The ad calls Vice President Harris Biden's "enabler-in-chief" and "architect of the border crisis," ending with the question, "Is this the person we want as president?"
