After the court ruled that students currently enrolled in or graduated from cyber universities cannot take the national exam for speech-language pathologists, Lee Geunyong, President of Daegu Cyber University, issued a statement.

Court Disappoints Prospective Speech Rehabilitation Therapists... Lee Geunyong, President of Daegu Cyber University, Strongly Opposes National Licensing Exam for Speech Rehabilitation Therapists Daegu Cyber University.

This statement addresses the ruling by the Seoul High Court on June 27, which contradicted the first trial's decision from a year ago. The first trial had ruled that, due to the absolute grading system of the national exam for speech-language pathologists, there was no issue with allowing graduates from distance-learning universities to take the exam.

As a result of this ruling, candidates from cyber universities who have taken the speech-language pathologist exam over the past ten years will no longer be able to sit for the national exam.

In the statement, Daegu Cyber University announced that it would employ every possible means, including an appeal to the Supreme Court by the National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board, a response at the level of the Korea Association for Cyber Universities, collective action by current students and graduates, and consideration of filing a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission.

Currently, university members and students are preparing to appeal the second trial's decision, and President Lee Geunyong and university members have publicly declared their solidarity, vowing to do their utmost to prevent any harm to current students and graduates who have quietly pursued their dreams.

Jeon Jongguk, Vice President of Daegu Cyber University, said, "The ruling by the Seoul High Court is only the result of the second trial, and since the appeal process by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute remains, we must restore the rights of students who have struggled to establish their expertise as speech-language pathologists."
