National Assembly "22nd National Assembly Opening Ceremony Postponed... To Be Confirmed Later" (Update)

The opening ceremony of the 22nd National Assembly has been postponed.

On the 4th, the Speaker's Office of the National Assembly stated, "The opening ceremony of the National Assembly, which was scheduled for tomorrow (the 5th), has been postponed," and added, "The schedule for the opening ceremony will be confirmed and notified later." Previously, the National Assembly planned to hold a special session in July and conduct the opening ceremony.

Before the official announcement of the postponement by the National Assembly, Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, met with reporters after attending the 'Condemnation Rally for the Speaker of the National Assembly and Judicial Terror' held at the Rotunda Hall of the National Assembly and said, "Without reflection from the Democratic Party of Korea and the Speaker of the National Assembly, who turned the National Assembly into a 'stage of intimidation' as if taking out their frustration on the Assembly, I cannot participate in the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Assembly."

Floor leader Choo said, "I also do not want to invite the President to an opening ceremony without the ruling party," and added, "The ruling party requests that the President not attend the National Assembly opening ceremony."

On that day, the National Assembly showed an extreme confrontation over the handling of the Special Prosecutor Act for Chae Sang-byung. Regarding the unlimited debate that began the day before, when Speaker Woo Won-shik demanded the end of the debate after 24 hours had passed, the People Power Party opposed, stating that the speech of Assemblyman Kwak Kyu-taek, who was in the middle of the debate, could not be interrupted as long as it continued. However, when the vote was held, they protested and showed an extreme confrontation.
