Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon, Receives the Freedom Award from the World League for Freedom and Democracy

"We Will Strive to Advance the Values of Freedom and Democracy"

Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, received the 'Freedom Award' from the World League for Freedom and Democracy (WLFD) at the 70th anniversary founding ceremony of the Korea Freedom Federation held at Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon on the 4th, in recognition of her dedication to upholding the values of liberal democracy and world peace.

The WLFD is an international non-governmental organization established in 1967, headquartered in Taiwan. Currently, 139 countries participate, and since 2001, it has selected individuals who have contributed to protecting freedom and peace, advancing democracy, and promoting human prosperity, awarding them the 'Freedom Award.'

Icheon City explained that Mayor Kim implemented citizen-centered administration by resolving residents' inconveniences through the establishment of the 'Civil Complaint Communication Mobile Team' and the 'Southern Mayor's Office,' and by communicating closely with citizens through 'Dialogue with Residents.' It added that she was selected as the award recipient in high regard for protecting the values of liberal democracy and contributing to human prosperity through citizens' welfare and regional development.

Mayor Kim said, "The Freedom Award is not an award given to an individual, but recognition of the efforts and dedication of all Icheon citizens," and added, "I will continue to strive to protect and develop the important values of freedom and democracy, which form the foundation of our society."
