"Not Jealous of Water Parks"...Affordable Urban Water Playgrounds Opening One After Another Yeongdeungpo Wonji Children's Park water play area. Provided by Yeongdeungpo.

As the intense heat begins in earnest, water play areas that can be conveniently used for free near homes are opening one after another. Urban water play areas are set up by local governments using idle facilities such as parks, playgrounds, and tributaries of the Han River. Most of them are free or inexpensive, and special attention is paid to water quality and facility safety, making them popular among children and parents.

Yeongdeungpo-gu will open four park water play areas that enjoy popularity comparable to water parks starting from the 6th. The water play areas opening this time are ▲Yeongdeungpo Park (Yeongdeungpo-dong) ▲Mokhwa Village Yard (Mullae-dong) ▲Wonji Children's Park (Daerim-dong) ▲Shinwoo Children's Park (Daerim-dong).

The water play areas are equipped with water spray tunnels, water slides, pools, and more, allowing visitors to enjoy various water play facilities. The shallow water depth makes it safe for toddlers to play. Convenience facilities such as pagodas (rest shelters) are set up in a corner of the park, so the whole family can relax together.

The water play areas operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the 31st of next month. During the vacation period from the 24th of this month to August 20th, they operate daily, and otherwise only on weekends and public holidays.

The water is replaced daily, water quality tests are conducted at least once every 15 days, sterilization and purification devices operate continuously, and regular disinfection and checks for floating and sedimented substances are performed to ensure families can use the facilities with peace of mind.

Gangseo-gu will fully operate children's park water play areas to cool down the summer heat starting from the 9th. Gangseo-gu has water play areas at Bongjesan Solar Plaza and Yesol Children's Park. The park water play areas, equipped with combination playground equipment and ground fountains, are very popular among children as they can enjoy cool water play in the city without going far during the hot summer.

The water play areas operate from the 9th until the 25th of next month. They operate every day except Mondays, which are closed days, from 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in 45-minute sessions at regular intervals.

Only children aged 13 and under can use the facilities, and children under 5 must be accompanied by a guardian. The district will assign safety personnel on site for children's safety and conduct daily facility inspections and water quality tests every 15 days.

The ‘Seongnaecheon Water Play Area’ opened in Songpa-gu is quite large. Seongnaecheon Water Play Area (141 Ogeum-dong) is a local representative water play spot that opened in 2004, with a total length of 158m and a water depth of 0.3 to 0.8m. It has gained popularity through word of mouth for its shallow depth safe for children and cool, clean underground spring water, attracting more than 60,000 visitors annually.

This year, new attractions such as a mini garden and a large rubber duck were added in leftover spaces. A large rubber duck measuring 2.5m high and 2m wide welcomes visitors in the pool, and landscape lighting was installed so the cute duck can be seen even at night.

The water play area, operating until the 31st of next month, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone, regardless of age or gender, can use it for free, but infants and toddlers must be accompanied by a guardian.
