Move into Display Industry Hall... Association President Choi Juseon Pledges "Korea's Rejump"

Chairman Choi Juseon Predicts Improvement in Business Conditions in the Second Half of the Year

"The long-cherished wish of the association, the Korea Display Industry Hall, opened its doors today. We pledge to use the hall as a base camp to achieve a new leap forward for the Korean display industry."

Choi Ju-seon, Chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association, expressed these sentiments in his commemorative speech at the opening ceremony of the Korea Display Industry Hall held on the 4th in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

Established in May 2007, the Korea Display Industry Association decided to establish this hall to make a greater leap forward as the association's role expanded and its scope of work increased. After first discussing the hall promotion plan at the first board meeting in 2021 and conducting various reviews, including an economic feasibility study, the purchase of the hall was completed last April.

About 20 people attended the opening ceremony, including Chairman Choi, who is also the CEO of Samsung Display, Jung Cheol-dong, CEO of LG Display, Lee Seung-ryeol, Director of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Kang Seung-gyu, member of the People Power Party, and representatives from industry, academia, and research.

The hall consists of a total of eight floors, from one basement level to the seventh floor above ground. Floors 1 to 3 will be leased to external parties, while floors 4 to 7 will be used as office space and meeting rooms for the association. The large conference room on the 4th floor will be named the 'Isaac Newton Room' to emphasize the symbolism of display technology.

Chairman Choi said, "The Korean display industry has grown stronger and more sophisticated by repeatedly experiencing success and setbacks, cultivating the ecosystem's self-sustainability and accumulating unique technological capabilities. Although the competition for leadership with Chinese companies is intensifying, we are creating a new growth turning point with strong support from the government and academia."

Meanwhile, before the opening ceremony, Chairman Choi met with reporters and forecasted an improvement in the display market in the second half of the year. He said, "I think the market will recover starting from the second quarter." He also added, "We have high expectations for the third quarter due to AI and Open AI launches, as well as new product releases from client companies."
