According to the agreement, the Minting Corporation plans to recycle about 120 units of 15 types of electrical and electronic products, including discarded phones and refrigerators, generated annually from five institutions: headquarters, currency division, paper division, ID division, and technology research institute, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 6 tons.
The three participating organizations will also jointly conduct campaigns to encourage citizen participation. This involves collecting discarded electronic products to promote environmental conservation and effective resource utilization.
'E-Sunhwan Governance' is a non-profit public corporation authorized by the Ministry of Environment and supervised by the Korea Environment Corporation, responsible for free collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste. It also handles ESG performance certification, such as providing greenhouse gas reduction certificates and donation receipts.
Sung Chang-hoon, President of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, said, “We hope the agreement among the three organizations will serve as a model case for revitalizing the resource circular economy. The Minting Corporation will continue to lead efforts to spread sustainable ESG management practices and create social value through effective resource recycling.”
