Doosan Testna announced on the 4th that it will build the "Pyeongtaek 2nd Factory" in the Brain City General Industrial Complex in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, through a board resolution. This investment was made proactively in response to the continuously increasing demand for testing related to new system semiconductor products.

The company will invest 220 billion KRW to construct a 15,870㎡ factory and install a cleanroom (a clean facility that blocks dust and bacteria). Construction will begin within this year and is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2027. In the future, expansions will be carried out step-by-step according to the timing of the need for additional capacity to optimize investment.

Previously, the company secured a 48,000㎡ site capable of installing a cleanroom larger than the combined area of its existing three factories in Pyeongtaek, Seoanseong, and Anseong.

At the Pyeongtaek 2nd Factory, semiconductor wafer testing processes for image sensors (CIS) and high-performance system-on-chips (SoC) will be conducted. CIS is mainly used in camera modules and has recently been increasingly installed in smartphones and autonomous vehicles. High-performance SoCs are system semiconductors that integrate central processing units (CPU) and graphics processing units (GPU) into a single chip.

Doosan Testna plans to apply a vertical laminar flow method that allows clean air to flow vertically within the cleanroom to minimize the intrusion of external contaminants into the factory. Vibration isolation technology capable of withstanding vibrations more than eight times that of a typical office will also be applied to ensure stability. The company will also introduce autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and other technologies to promote the realization of a smart factory.

A Doosan Testna official said, "We will actively respond to customer demand through the introduction of new testing equipment and factory expansion," adding, "We will continue to expand growth opportunities in the future."
