Taking the Situation Seriously Is Common Sense

If the People Do Not Agree, That's It
As the number of signatures on the National Assembly's public petition demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol surpassed one million, Go Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said the presidential office's stance that impeachment is impossible unless there is a clear legal violation is "a shocking response. It is an unchanging attitude that breaks common sense."
On the 4th, on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Go said, "I believe the psychological rejection of President Yoon by the public was established during the last general election," adding, "This is not a result of praise or support for the Democratic Party. It is a psychological drive that President Yoon must be stopped at all costs."
Go emphasized that the petition has reached one million signatures because it is difficult to click due to the overwhelming number of signatures, and that it will exceed two million or three million in the future. She also said the presidential office's response is shocking. She criticized, "The common sense response would be for the presidential office to take this situation seriously and humbly try to better understand the people's feelings," adding, "But they break all that common sense with their unchanging attitude."
Regarding the People Power Party's retort questioning whether the impeachment petition movement can be considered normal and highlighting that the petitioner has five prior convictions for violating the National Security Act, Go said, "Not all one million people who supported the proposal are criminals just because the petitioner has five prior convictions," and added, "Regardless of the petitioner's background, if the people do not agree, it ends there. It feels like the People Power Party is grasping at straws."
Furthermore, regarding the ongoing filibuster (legal obstruction of parliamentary proceedings through unlimited debate) related to the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act' on the second day in the National Assembly plenary session, she said, "It is a situation where suspicion cannot be erased about the president's position concerning the Chae Sang-byeong death case," adding, "I felt that the Yoon administration is building a thorough defensive wall." She continued, "They just need to confirm the 800-7070 number, but they refuse to do so until the end," and said, "Seeing them even use the unreasonable logic of national secrets, I thought there must be something."
