Business Agreement for Single-Person Household Well-being Check Service
It was announced on the 4th that Sacheon City in Gyeongnam and the Sacheon branch of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed a "Single-Person Household Welfare Check Service Business Agreement" to prevent solitary deaths and establish a social safety net for vulnerable groups.
The single-person household welfare check service is an artificial intelligence-based service that detects unusual usage patterns and notifies local government welfare officials to prevent emergencies and solitary deaths among the target group.

Under this agreement, Sacheon City will identify and register eligible individuals and oversee the project, while the Sacheon branch of KEPCO will build the solution, analyze data, and provide information.
Since the power consumption and communication data usage patterns of single-person households are analyzed by artificial intelligence, interference with or exposure of personal privacy is minimized.
In particular, by utilizing existing power and communication infrastructure without the need to install a separate app, it is expected that welfare checks can be conducted 24 hours a day, including at night and on holidays, thereby increasing the efficiency of solitary death prevention efforts.
On this day, the Sacheon branch of KEPCO donated approximately 2.4 million KRW, voluntarily collected by its employees, to support the safety of vulnerable groups in Sacheon City and the smooth implementation of the solitary death prevention project.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "We will spare no support in establishing a system to prevent and manage solitary deaths, and will continue to discover and promote social safety nets for vulnerable groups."
