According to the police, Mr. A tested positive for morphine in the preliminary drug test conducted after his booking, and he stated that he usually takes a large amount of prescribed medication due to poor health.

The preliminary drug test yields quick results but can be somewhat inaccurate, as taking cold medicine can also result in positive reactions for methamphetamine or opiates.

Therefore, the police plan to request a detailed examination of Mr. A’s prescribed medication, as well as collected hair and urine samples, from the National Forensic Service (NFS).

Earlier, at around 5:15 p.m. the previous day, Mr. A hit three pedestrians and four vehicles while making a U-turn to exit the parking lot after dropping off a passenger at the emergency room of the National Medical Center.

Among the three injured, one sustained serious injuries and two had minor injuries. The accident also damaged the concrete tile exterior wall of the emergency room.

Mr. A reportedly claimed sudden unintended acceleration during the police investigation, and the police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident based on CCTV footage and black box recordings.
