Dongbanwi and Busan Port Authority to Create 'Port ESG Management Ecosystem'

Supporting ESG Management for Small and Medium Enterprises Collaborating at Busan Port

The Win-Win Growth Committee announced on the 4th that it has signed a participation agreement for the 'Partner Company Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Support Project' with Busan Port Authority.

Dongbanwi and Busan Port Authority to Create 'Port ESG Management Ecosystem'

This agreement was established to improve ESG management awareness and strengthen the capabilities of partner small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for creating a sustainable supply chain.

Through this agreement, Busan Port Authority will provide support to respond to increasingly stringent ESG regulations both internally and externally. It plans to comprehensively offer education, diagnosis, and on-site inspections (consulting) to Busan Port partner SMEs that find it difficult to implement ESG management.

To this end, excellent SMEs with an ESG compliance rate of 80% or higher will receive incentives such as cash rewards. Additionally, by linking the Win-Win Growth Committee’s performance-sharing system with the ESG support project, it aims to spread ESG culture throughout the Busan Port ecosystem. Furthermore, Busan Port Authority is also transferring various ESG management know-how, including greenhouse gas target management systems and methods for calculating ultrafine dust emissions in the port sector.

Based on participation in this agreement, Busan Port Authority’s strategy is to nurture Busan Port partner companies into globally competitive shipping and logistics hubs. In 2021, Busan Port Authority became the first port public enterprise to declare ESG management. Kang Jun-seok, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "I hope this agreement will strengthen the ESG responsiveness of Busan Port partner companies."

Oh Young-gyo, Chairman of the Win-Win Growth Committee, said, "Through this agreement, I hope Busan Port partner SMEs will establish a foundation for ESG management," adding, "We will support them to respond to various regulations and ultimately strive to contribute to the creation of an ESG ecosystem at Busan Port."
