Gyeonggi Province is conducting outdoor advertising safety inspections in collaboration with city and county governments to prepare for wind and flood disasters.
Gyeonggi Province conducted a joint safety inspection of outdoor advertisements with city and county offices until June 28 to prevent flood and wind damage during the summer, resulting in the correction of 28 cases including removals.
On the 4th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had focused inspections on 97 outdoor advertisements in vulnerable areas to localized heavy rain, such as Madudong in Goyang City, Geumchondong in Paju City, Jeongwangdong in Siheung City, Gyeangdong in Gwangju City, and Osandong in Osan City.
As a result of the inspection, they checked whether there was any risk of falling or toppling due to aging, cracks, deformation, or corrosion of the outdoor advertisements caused by strong winds or heavy rain, and corrected two minor cases on-site. Additionally, four old and dangerous signs were removed, and 22 cases requiring repairs were requested to be corrected by the advertisers.
Lee Eun-seon, head of the Architectural Design Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Outdoor advertisements are vulnerable to concentrated heavy rain and typhoons in summer, so safety management is important," and urged, "Advertisers and building managers should also participate in outdoor advertisement safety management to prepare for flood and wind damage through voluntary safety inspections."
