Jamsil 2-dong Launches 'I Am Also an Instructor' Series... Episode 1 Features a Cooking Film Reporter as Instructor
Oryun-dong Hosts 'One-Day Resident Talent Sharing Classes'... Planned by Field Including Tax, Medical, and Finance
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 4th that there have been ongoing opportunities where capable residents become instructors to share their expertise and experiences with their neighbors throughout the region.
With a population of 653,447, Songpa-gu ranks first among autonomous districts nationwide, including Seoul. This highlights the abundance of human resources in the area.
Accordingly, some places are actively utilizing residents as instructors to help solve various local questions.
The main locations are Jamsil 2-dong and Oryun-dong. Both districts have discovered and selected residents living in the area as instructors and prepared special lectures by field.
Since June 26, Jamsil 2-dong has been conducting the lecture series titled “Neighbor ○○ Teacher, I am also an Instructor.”
The first lecture featured a resident who was formerly a reporter for M Ilbo. Drawing on 30 years of experience as a film journalist, the instructor captivated the audience by connecting knowledge about films with cooking featured in movies. Over 50 residents attended, engaging in stories about food in films while the instructor shared unique cooking tips, fostering communication with the community.
Attending residents responded enthusiastically, saying, “The chat about movies and cooking was so enjoyable,” “It was more comfortable listening because the instructor was a familiar neighbor,” and “I look forward to the next lecture.”
Jamsil 2-dong received multiple applications from residents wishing to be lecturers, leading to an increase in the lecture frequency from the initially planned once a month to two to three times a month. The next lecture will be held on July 17, featuring the “Neighbor Math Teacher.” Subsequently, practical knowledge closely related to daily life, such as child education, writing, computers, and taxes, will be shared until November.
In Oryun-dong, a “One-day Resident Talent Sharing Course” is being operated.
The first lecture on June 25 addressed the “Tax and Accounting” field, a major interest among Oryun-dong residents. A resident tax accountant served as the instructor, explaining topics such as tax-saving methods for inheritance and gifts, tax calculation structures, and tips related to gifts under the theme “Preparing Early for Inheritance and Gifts,” tailored to the residents’ level of understanding.
Not only individual participants but also couples and groups showed great interest by attending the course and asking numerous additional questions after the lecture. Residents shared their impressions, saying, “What I liked most was that the content addressed my usual questions in a customized way considering local characteristics.”
Oryun-dong will hold a total of four lectures until November 26. Lectures on ▲Medical and Health ▲Finance and Investment ▲Culture and Arts are planned.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “It is a reality that residents living in apartments lack interaction with each other,” adding, “Through this resident instructor project, we will strive to support the formation of close bonds among residents and the revitalization of the local community.”
