According to the South Gyeongsang Fire Department, a collision involving a passenger car, a truck, and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) resulted in two women in their 60s and 50s, who were sitting in the front seats of the passenger car, being transported to the hospital in an unconscious state with serious injuries.
Two women in their 60s who were in the back seat of the passenger car complained of chest and neck pain and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The Korea Expressway Corporation believes that the passenger car rear-ended the truck ahead, and the following SUV then crashed into the passenger car.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on footage from vehicle black boxes and closed-circuit (CC) TV cameras inside the tunnel.
