At around 12:30 p.m. on the 3rd, a compact car collided head-on with a tour bus on a curved road in Gucheon-ri, Dongbu-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongnam.
According to Geoje Police Station and Gyeongnam Fire Department, the compact car, which was heading toward the Geoje Cable Car, crossed the center line and crashed into the oncoming tour bus.
As a result of the accident, a Taiwanese female tourist in her 40s who was on the bus sustained injuries to her eye area and was transported to the hospital.
The female driver of the compact car, who was in her 60s and was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest, was ultimately pronounced dead.
At the time of the accident, there were reportedly 21 people on the bus, including 19 Taiwanese tourists and 2 Korean guides.
The accident site was a three-lane two-way road curved to the right, with a speed limit of 60 km/h.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including why the vehicle crossed the center line, based on black box footage from both vehicles.
