Bidirectional Communication Resumed in About 20 Minutes
At around 4:58 PM on the 3rd, smoke was detected coming from a car driving through Namsan No. 2 Tunnel in Jangchung-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul, causing traffic in both directions to be temporarily halted before resuming after about 20 minutes.
According to the fire department and police, smoke was emitted from a car traveling toward Yongsan-gu inside Namsan No. 2 Tunnel. The car exited the tunnel on its own after the smoke appeared, and the smoke did not spread into a fire.
The police blocked traffic in both directions at around 5:05 PM as a precaution against any possible accidents, then reopened the lane heading in the opposite direction (toward Jung-gu) after safety was confirmed. The restriction toward Yongsan-gu was lifted at around 5:30 PM, 25 minutes later.
