Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, encouraged participants in the 'Hello, Rainwater Drain' cleanup campaign at Hanmaeum Square in Mapo District Office on the morning of the 3rd.
'Hello, Rainwater Drain' is a volunteer activity to clean rainwater drains in flood-prone areas within the district to prevent flooding caused by heavy summer rains. It involves volunteer camp activists and residents from 16 neighborhoods.
The 32 volunteers who started the campaign at the district office took a commemorative photo before moving to the Seongsan-dong area to remove rainwater drain covers and clean sediment and the surrounding area.
On this day, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, "Although flooding can be prevented by rainwater drains alone, there are cases where the drains do not function properly due to sediment such as trash," and added, "I sincerely thank the volunteers who took the initiative to participate in the rainwater drain cleanup activities for the safety of the residents."
