Planning to Initiate Discussions Across 14 Regional Zones

The Ready-Mix Concrete Transport Union in the Seoul metropolitan area, which had gone on strike since the 1st, has decided to withdraw the strike.

According to the ready-mix concrete industry on the 3rd, the Korean Federation of Trade Unions Ready-Mix Concrete Transport Union decided to withdraw the strike and engage in regional dialogues.

Accordingly, the metropolitan area transport drivers who participated in the strike demanding transport fee negotiations will resume transport operations from the 4th. There are a total of 11,000 ready-mix concrete transport drivers in the metropolitan area, of which about 8,400 belong to the Korean Federation of Trade Unions Ready-Mix Concrete Transport Union.

The transport fee negotiations will be conducted by dividing the metropolitan area into 14 regional zones. The union had originally demanded to unify the metropolitan ready-mix concrete manufacturers and negotiate transport fees at once.

Due to the union strike, major ready-mix concrete plants in the metropolitan area had virtually ceased operations. Some plants experienced a drop in operating rates by 1 to 3% compared to before.
