The Blue House expressed deep regret over the Democratic Party of Korea's initiation of impeachment proceedings against the prosecutors investigating former party leader Lee Jae-myung.
A senior official from the Blue House stated on the 3rd, "The Democratic Party must immediately cease its anti-civilization attempts to destroy the constitutional order and its violent legislative coup."
The Democratic Party filed an impeachment motion the previous day against four prosecutors responsible for investigating former leader Lee's alleged preferential development in Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong, as well as the alleged illegal remittance to North Korea by Ssangbangwool.
They also attempted to push for the impeachment of former Broadcasting and Communications Commissioner Kim Hong-il, but this failed after Commissioner Kim voluntarily resigned before the impeachment motion was reported to the National Assembly plenary session the day before, and President Yoon promptly accepted his resignation and approved his dismissal.
Regarding this, a Blue House official said, "We do not believe the Democratic Party has clear grounds for impeaching the Broadcasting and Communications Commissioner based on any obvious illegal acts," adding, "We express concern over the Democratic Party's excessive use of impeachment, which continues to create a situation of administrative vacuum."
On the same day, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party's initiation of impeachment proceedings against the prosecutors investigating Lee Jae-myung on social media, saying, "This is effectively retaliation and obstruction of investigation against the prosecutors handling the Daejang-dong, Baekhyeon-dong, and North Korea remittance cases involving Lee Jae-myung," and questioned, "Is it even conceivable for a suspect to impeach the investigating prosecutors and block the investigation?"
The opposition parties have begun procedures to unilaterally pass the Special Prosecutor Act on Chae Sang-byung and the three broadcasting laws that change the governance structure of public broadcasting in the 22nd National Assembly, after President Yoon exercised his veto power in the 21st National Assembly and sent them back to the National Assembly.

The Special Prosecutor Act on Chae Sang-byung, led by the Democratic Party, was submitted to the National Assembly plenary session this afternoon. The People Power Party opposed the Democratic Party's forceful attempt and launched the first filibuster of the 22nd National Assembly. A filibuster is a legal parliamentary obstruction tactic where members deliver long speeches to block the majority party's unilateral voting process.
The People Power Party protested, saying, "We cannot agree to the plenary session for the passage of the Special Prosecutor Act intended for political strife," while Democratic Party members delivered speeches in favor of the bill against the People Power Party. As the filibuster began, the government's economic questioning scheduled for the day was canceled, and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and cabinet members waiting in the plenary hall left.
A key ruling party official expressed concern, saying, "The Democratic Party's excessive use of impeachment has gone too far, inevitably causing a vacuum in state administration," and added, "The victims of politics spiraling into extreme dysfunction without cooperation will inevitably be the people."
