Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Lee Sang-ik) conducted an emergency inspection on two factories handling fire hazardous materials on the 2nd, in cooperation with Jeollanam-do, to prevent similar fire disasters following the lithium battery manufacturing plant fire tragedy in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi-do.
According to the county on the 3rd, the inspected facilities included a factory related to cathode material synthesis production and a manufacturer of tire tubes and recycled tires. The inspection was carried out jointly with safety advisory experts in the fields of architecture, electricity, gas, and firefighting.

The inspection checked ▲LPG storage tank maintenance ▲operation of fire extinguishers and fire prevention equipment ▲electrical facilities within hazardous material storage areas ▲stability of major structural parts of the facilities. They requested strengthening boundary markings around hazardous facilities, fire extinguisher placements, and emergency exit signs.
The county encouraged facilities requiring repairs or reinforcements to promptly carry out maintenance by emphasizing the responsibility of private companies. They plan to thoroughly manage records until maintenance is completed.
Lee Sang-ik, Governor of Hampyeong County, urged, "Businesses handling hazardous materials within the jurisdiction should strictly manage safety according to related manuals and make evacuation drills a routine practice to prepare for accidents."
