Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 3rd that it resumed fundraising for the Hometown Love Donation Program through the local government information system (private platform) on the 1st.
Entering its second year of implementation this year, the program is based on the successful establishment of the Hometown Love Donation Program and the achievements of the Hometown Love Fund projects.
Last year, Dong-gu achieved 920 million KRW in Hometown Love donations, ranking 8th among 243 local governments nationwide.
This achievement is attributed to the discovery of differentiated fund projects from other local governments since the early stages of implementation, disclosure of donation usage to secure trust and transparency, and the creation of a healthy donation culture through communication with donors.
Accordingly, Dong-gu plans to provide better convenience and benefits to donors this year through the fundraising method using the local government information system.
Additionally, this year, a new designated donation project, the "Stray Animal Rescue and Protection Project," has been added as a differentiated strategy to add new value to the local community.
The "Stray Animal Rescue and Protection Project" was newly designated to help solve the emerging issue of stray animals as the culture of treating companion animals as family members takes root.
In particular, the goal is to spread social values that respect life through the rescue, protection, and adoption support of stray animals.
Through this, it is expected to contribute to ▲creating an environment where companion animals and people can coexist harmoniously ▲strengthening the image of a pet-friendly city ▲and improving the quality of life for residents.
Dong-gu plans to encourage active participation by holding a gift event that provides additional popular return gifts such as beef, pork ribs, drip coffee, and kimchi to donors of the Hometown Love Fund.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, "The resumption of fundraising for the Hometown Love Donation Program through the local government information system is an important opportunity to secure local government resources, promote balanced regional development, and drive autonomous decentralization innovation by solving problems together with the people." He added, "Through the new project, the Stray Animal Rescue and Protection Project, we will realize the dignity of life and achieve harmonious coexistence with companion animals."
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to 5 million KRW to regions other than their registered address, and the collected funds are used to improve resident welfare. Online donations can be made through the WigiB and Hometown Love e-um websites, and offline donations can be made through NongHyup.
Meanwhile, Dong-gu is promoting projects such as the "Gwangju Theater 100-Year Project" and the "Support Project for E.T Baseball Team for Youth with Developmental Disabilities" through the Hometown Love Donation Program.
