The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation is operating a disaster safety situation room continuously until September 21 to fully focus on rapid disaster safety response.
According to the Jeonnam Headquarters on the 3rd, the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas are expected to experience repeated rain showers this week due to the influence of a stationary front, with the monsoon front expected to become active over the weekend.

The Jeonnam Headquarters maintains an inspection and preparedness system for immediate response in case of any situation.
Before heavy rain is forecasted, the situation room plans to be fully prepared for response measures, including fully opening reservoir water level control devices (such as drainage gates), frequently checking the operation status of pumping stations, and continuously monitoring the opening of emergency gates via CCTV.
Additionally, due to concerns about ground weakening caused by continuous rain, all branch offices in the jurisdiction are rechecking reservoir embankments and the removal of sediment from drainage channels, and are conducting ongoing surveillance and inspections such as drainage channel checks.
Jo Young-ho, head of the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “We will meticulously pre-inspect and take action on even minor details so that the training and inspections prepared for natural disaster crisis situations can operate effectively in real situations. We will closely monitor weather conditions during the flood season and remain vigilant.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Headquarters conducted flood control releases at 489 reservoirs and operated 87 pumping stations during the weather advisory issued last weekend, with about 600 employees working on 24-hour emergency duty.
