Prosecution Adds Charges of Fraud and Defamation Against Former Cheongjo Officials

Embezzlement of 125 Million Won Investment and 233 Million Won Tournament Fees

The prosecution has additionally indicted Jeon Cheong-jo (28) on charges of impersonating a hidden son of a chaebol family and embezzling several hundred million won.

The Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Song Young-in) announced on the 3rd that Jeon was additionally indicted on charges of fraud and defamation.


According to the prosecution, Jeon is accused of impersonating a hidden son of a chaebol family and embezzling approximately 125 million won from three victims under the pretext of investing in unlisted stocks. At the same time, he is also accused of impersonating a female equestrian athlete to four male victims he met through a dating app, deceiving them by pretending to be in a relationship or marriage, and borrowing about 233 million won for competition participation fees and other expenses.


Additionally, Jeon is charged with making false statements during lectures to an unspecified number of people, pretending to be the mentor of a marketing YouTuber and claiming that he could even influence whether the YouTuber's lectures would be held.


Earlier, on May 27, the prosecution indicted him on charges of assault and intimidation against Nam Hyun-hee, a former national fencing athlete's nephew.


The prosecution stated, "We will make every effort to ensure that Jeon's crimes are met with severe punishment commensurate with their gravity."
