'Gyeonggi·Goyang Bio Forum' Held on the 3rd... Discussing Ways to Develop the Bio Industry

Gyeonggi Province held the 'Gyeonggi-Goyang Global Bio Forum' on the 3rd at Sono Calm Goyang.

Gyeonggi Province held the ‘Gyeonggi-Goyang Global Bio Forum’ at Sono Calm Goyang on the 3rd.

Co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and Goyang City, and jointly organized by the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency and the Goyang City Policy Research Institute, this forum was prepared under the theme of ‘Fostering the Global Bio Industry in the Northern Gyeonggi Innovative Economy’ to facilitate information sharing and exchange among innovation entities in industry, academia, research, and military sectors. Notably, the forum included participation from the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Ulf Nehrbass, Director of the Luxembourg National Health Institute, and numerous bio companies.

In the first session, Han Yonghae, CEO of HLB Life Science, and Ulf Nehrbass, Director of the Luxembourg National Health Institute, gave presentations on the topics of ‘The Impact of the Bio Industry on the Future Economy’ and ‘Bio Industry Exchange and Cooperation between Gyeonggi Province and Europe,’ followed by a panel discussion on fostering the Northern Gyeonggi Bio Cluster.

The second session featured a seminar presenting successful commercialization cases and proposing cooperation methods among industry, academia, research, and military sectors utilizing bio technology, chaired by Cho Wanje, Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Dankook University.

The Bio Forum also served as a regular exchange meeting (GAIA-day) of the Gyeonggi Academia-Industry Alliance (GAIA), facilitating interaction among stakeholders in the bio industry such as companies and universities.

GAIA stands for ‘Gyeonggi Academia-Industry Alliance,’ symbolizing that industry-academia cooperation is the starting point and source of innovation.

GAIA regularly holds forums combined with regular exchange meetings (GAIA-day) on selected themes such as advanced mobility and bio.

Kim Hyungon, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "Goyang is a key area for the large-scale development of Northern Gyeonggi and a core hub of the Northern Bio Cluster. This forum is an opportunity to highlight the importance and potential of the Northern Gyeonggi bio industry to external parties and a platform for cooperation to revitalize the bio industry in Gyeonggi Province. We will spare no support for the development of the Northern bio industry."
