Simultaneous Opening of 11 Sites Including Namyeol Haedoji Beach
Gohung-gun, Jeonnam Province (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it has completed preparations to welcome tourists during the hot summer season and will open 11 beaches in the area, including Namyeol Haedoji Beach, on the 13th to begin full-scale operations.
The swimming hours at the beaches, which will operate until August 15, are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 53 water safety personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of visitors.
Namyeol Haedoji Beach, the best resort on the southern coast, features the comfortable resting place of the pine forest and the Gohung Space Launch Observatory, which offers views of the premium scenery of the Dadohae (Korean Archipelago). Yongdong and Pungnyu Beaches are popular among tourists as they offer beautiful scenic views unique to Gohung Bay, along with various convenience facilities such as camping sites and small parks.
Additionally, Naro Space and Yeompo Beaches attract family vacationers with the Nuri rocket launch vehicle and the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum, which boast Korea’s space history. Yeonso, Ikgeum, and Geumjang Beaches allow visitors to enjoy the open coastal scenery of Geogeumdo Island simultaneously, and they continue to attract visitors.
Meanwhile, the county has maintained convenience facilities such as restrooms, drinking fountains, and shower rooms to provide clean and comfortable resting spaces for vacationers. To ensure safe water play, it has conducted risk assessment services, provided training for water safety personnel, and established an organic cooperation system with the Yeosu Maritime Police Station and Gohung Fire Station.
A county official said, “As the intense heat begins, it is expected that many visitors will come to the local beaches,” adding, “We will do our best to strengthen safety inspections of facilities to prevent even a single accident.”
