Vocational Education and the Realization of Social Value
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that students of the "Changwon School of Tomorrow" at Changwon Moonsung University Campus visited Gyeongnam Joeun Lifelong School for the Disabled and delivered 200 handmade madeleines.
The delivery ceremony, held on the 2nd, was attended by Professor Jung Soonkyung, who led the "Baking and Pastry Making Using K-Food Ingredients" course, six students, and officials from Changwon Moonsung University and Changwon City.
Changwon City is providing learning experiences related to career and employment for citizens in their 20s to 60s, including early-career individuals and those in life transition periods, by reflecting each university's strengths, local industries, and citizen needs through the "Changwon School of Tomorrow" support project in cooperation with six local universities.
The "Baking and Pastry Making Using K-Food Ingredients" course is being operated in connection with the Hotel Baking and Pastry Department at Changwon Moonsung University. From June 4 to November 12, 12 participants, including professionals in related fields and aspiring entrepreneurs, will participate in weekly practical sessions developing dessert menus using local ingredients.
The students plan to meaningfully share the achievements of lifelong vocational education by donating a total of 800 baked goods, once a month from July to October, to 10 lifelong schools for the disabled and adult literacy education institutions in the area.
Lee Dongho, Director of Lifelong Education, said, "Changwon City will strengthen its support to ensure that learning as a lifelong education platform leads to a virtuous cycle connecting learning with employment and giving back to society."
