This competition was held under topics reflecting the needs of the Gijang-gun Tourism Promotion Division, including ▲ identifying tourism issues in Gijang-gun ▲ solutions for revitalizing tourism in Gijang-gun ▲ strategies for utilizing Jukdo in Gijang-gun as a tourism resource. On the first day of the ideathon, May 27, more than 30 participants including those from Dongseo University conducted on-site investigations, produced deliverables for idea development, and prepared for presentations and evaluations. Afterwards, with mentoring from the Gijang-gun Tourism Promotion Division and professional mentors, they refined their ideas and produced the final results.
The evaluation and awards ceremony took place on the 28th at Busan Unique Venue. To actively utilize the students' outstanding ideas, representatives from local organizations such as Gijang-gun Office, Busan Tourism Organization, and Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation participated as judges.
The Dongseo University team "Floating Gijang" (Tourism Management and Convention majors Yang Jaeik, Lee Kyunghoon, Lee Junsu, Kim Myunghyun) won the Grand Prize by proposing an idea to revitalize local tourism using floating villages to make the Ilgwang coastline in Gijang a tourist attraction.
Hwang Kihyun, Head of the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group and Director of the Shared Collaboration Center, said, "By collaborating with the Gijang-gun Tourism Promotion Division, we have held this ideathon for the fourth consecutive time to promote tourism in the eastern Busan region. We hope that the creative ideas of participating students will be reflected in actual policies to revitalize the local tourism industry."
