Ubivelox Supplies New Concept IoT Cards to Samsung Electronics, KB Kookmin Card, and Amex Partnership

Ubivelox announced on the 3rd that three companies?Samsung Electronics, KB Kookmin Card, and Amex?are collaborating to supply a new concept of 'IoT card' linked with Samsung Electronics' SmartThings (Samsung Electronics' Internet of Things platform).


The IoT card supplied by Ubivelox is a card jointly introduced by Samsung Electronics, KB Kookmin Card, and Amex. In addition to credit card payments, it utilizes BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) functionality to provide features such as card location tracking and phone finding through the Samsung SmartThings Find platform, as well as mutual disconnection alerts between the phone and the card. It can be charged via a wireless phone charger.


Kang Jung-kyu, Executive Director in charge of the Business Strategy Headquarters, said, "The role of smart cards is rapidly expanding from the traditional financial market to the security and authentication market. The BLE-type IoT card announced this time is a new concept card linked with Samsung Electronics' Internet of Things platform, serving as a medium that can perform various functions beyond the traditional financial card (credit card, check card) usage scope."


He added, "We are confident that the company will continue to show growth in this rapidly evolving market."


Another company official stated, "The BLE-based IoT card, introduced for the first time with KB Kookmin Card and Samsung Electronics, will be released as the American Express-branded ‘KB Kookmin Skypass IoT Titanium Card.’ Starting with this launch, we plan to continuously pursue cooperation to integrate IoT card services into various fields with KB Kookmin Card in the future."
