S-OIL Donates 285 Million Won to Protect Natural Monuments

Support for Research and Conservation Activities of Protected Species Organizations, Guardian Activities Support

17 Years of Campaigns to Protect Five Endangered Natural Monuments

S-OIL (CEO: Anwar Al Hejazi), together with the Cultural Heritage Administration, delivered 285 million KRW in sponsorship funds on the 3rd at the main auditorium of its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to environmental organizations such as the Korea Otter Protection Association, Korea Freshwater Fish Conservation Association, Natural Monument Insect Research Institute, and Korea Mauremys reevesii Protection Association to support the protection of endangered natural monuments.

S-OIL's sponsorship funds will be used for protection activities for five endangered natural monument species that require attention and support: otters, red-crowned cranes, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Callipogon relictus, and Mauremys reevesii.


S-OIL has continuously supported the Natural Monument Keeper protection activities in the environmental field for 17 years since 2008, in order to realize social value and promote environmental interests.


An S-OIL representative stated, "Thanks to the dedication of those involved in protecting and researching the ecosystem under challenging circumstances, endangered species have been able to recover their populations and establish a healthy ecosystem," and added, "S-OIL will continue to maintain its interest and support in the environmental field and fulfill its corporate social responsibility."


S-OIL's Natural Monument Keeper activities include: ▲research activities by protection groups ▲volunteer activities for employees and their families as natural monument keepers ▲university student natural monument keeper teams ▲natural monument classes for children from low-income families, among others.


So far, 5,141 employees and customer family members have participated in volunteer activities, and 4,970 children from low-income families have joined ecological education camps.
