Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will launch water playgrounds in children's parks to cool down the summer heat starting from the 9th of this month. In Gangseo-gu, water playgrounds have been established at Bongjesan Solar Plaza (San 22-73, Hwagok-dong) and Yesol Children's Park (743-6, Magok-dong).

The park water playgrounds, equipped with combination play structures and ground fountains, are very popular among children as they allow them to enjoy refreshing water play in the city without having to go far during the hot summer.

The district has completed safety inspections and water quality tests for the water playgrounds and will operate them from the 9th of this month until the 25th of next month. The water playgrounds operate every day from 1:00 PM to 5:45 PM in 45-minute sessions at regular intervals, except on Mondays when they are closed.

Only children aged 13 and under can use the facilities, and children under 5 must be accompanied by a guardian. To ensure children's safety, the district will assign safety personnel on site and conduct daily facility inspections and water quality tests every 15 days.

Earlier, starting June 3rd when the early heat began, ground fountains were activated. The ground fountains operate at 10 locations including Saebot Children's Park, Hanmaeum Children's Park, Byeotgeo Children's Park, and Banghwa Neighborhood Park until September 13th. The operating hours are the same as those of the water playgrounds.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “With the high cost of living making travel expenses burdensome these days, I hope families visit nearby parks to enjoy water play with their children,” and added, “We will thoroughly manage facility safety and clean water quality to ensure children have a joyful water play experience.”
