Cheonan City in Chungnam has begun preparing detailed conditions and content for the implementation of the 'Cheonan Food Certification System,' which certifies agricultural products produced locally.
On the 3rd, the city announced that it will establish enforcement rules to specify the 'Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Cheonan Food in Cheonan City.'
The enforcement rules set detailed provisions for the system in which the mayor of Cheonan certifies the safety of locally produced agricultural and livestock products as well as processed foods. They include specific details on certification targets, applications, standards, procedures, certification reviews, validity periods, and application restrictions.
The 'Draft Enforcement Rules for the Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Cheonan Food in Cheonan City' will be reviewed and approved at the Ordinance and Rules Deliberation Committee meeting scheduled for the 10th.
The city expects that by establishing these enforcement rules, the certification of safety and quality excellence of locally produced agricultural and livestock products will strengthen the competitiveness of agricultural products and increase consumer trust.
Additionally, under the plan to implement the Cheonan Food Certification System in the first half of next year, the city intends to complete the Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory by December.
A city official stated, “Through the establishment of enforcement rules, we plan to set the Cheonan Food certification standards and implement the certification system stably.”
