Apply Quickly Before Budget Runs Out...Demolition Starting from September
The district office will remove signs that pose a risk of falling due to being left unattended after small business owners close or relocate without dismantling them.
Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Suhee) announced on the 3rd that it will accept applications until next month for the "2024 Ownerless Sign Maintenance Project," which supports free sign removal, and will begin full-scale removal starting this September.
The district has designated next month as the intensive application period and plans to actively promote the program. After receiving applications, the district office will review documents and conduct on-site inspections, prioritizing signs with high risk, selecting targets for removal, and starting full-scale removal work from September.
Applications have been accepted since the 1st of this month and will close once the budgeted removal capacity is reached. To apply, building owners or managers of signs left undismantled after business closure or relocation should submit application documents to the Gangdong-gu Office Urban Landscape Division by visiting in person, mail, or email. The required documents can be found in the announcement form posted on the district office website.
Kim Juno, head of the Urban Landscape Division of Gangdong-gu, stated, "We will continue to make efforts to create a pleasant environment where residents can walk safely by removing ownerless signs."
