LIG Nex1 to Handle Maintenance of Cheongsang-eo

Defense Acquisition Program Administration and Acoustic Torpedo Maintenance Performance-Based Logistics Support Contract Signed

LIG Nex1 announced on the 3rd that it has signed a Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) contract for the inspection and maintenance of the lightweight torpedo 'Cheongsang-eo,' operated by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Navy. The project is scheduled to continue until 2029.

PBL is a performance-targeted defense maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) business model in which defense contractors take full responsibility for logistics support throughout the entire weapon system operation process. Recently, as weapon systems have rapidly become more intelligent and advanced, and the proportion of modular electronic equipment has increased, securing stable parts supply and repair capabilities has emerged as a key challenge in the logistics support sector.

LIG Nex1 has secured a PBL business foundation optimized for cutting-edge weapon systems by applying Reliability-centered Asset Management with Cost (RAM-C), which systematically analyzes and manages repair parts demand forecasting, operational scenario simulations, and optimal life cycle costs.

Additionally, a specialized computerized management system for PBL, L-LIS (LIG Logistic Information System), will be implemented. L-LIS allows real-time monitoring of operational and status information for each piece of equipment in the weapon system, enabling proactive management of uncertain factors. It is also expected to reduce operating and maintenance costs and shorten maintenance periods.

Shin Ik-hyun, CEO of LIG Nex1, stated, "Based on the technology and know-how accumulated through the development, production, and maintenance of weapon systems, LIG Nex1 has been striving to provide more stable MRO services. We hope this contract will contribute to the efficient operation of the lightweight torpedo ‘Cheongsang-eo,’ which protects the seas of the Republic of Korea."
