The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that 'Nano Korea 2024,' a platform for exchange and cooperation between nano convergence companies and researchers, will be held for three days from the 3rd at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1.
Marking its 22nd edition this year, this event is the largest in Korea and is one of the world's top three nano events alongside TechConnect World in the United States and Nanotech Japan.
This year, 356 domestic and international companies, including Samsung and LG, will exhibit various nano products applied to advanced industries, including transparent displays showcased at CES 2024, across 661 booths centered on nanotechnology.
Along with a special exhibition hall for future promising nano products such as graphene and eco-friendly materials, a government R&D excellence exhibition featuring 40 outstanding achievements will also be operated. A consultation meeting connecting demand and supply companies will be held as well.
At the international symposium with experts from 28 countries, 1,326 papers will be presented through over 20 diverse sessions, including 16 specialized lectures in fields such as extreme materials, energy, and bio.
At the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister's Award (2 awards) and Ministerial Awards (12 awards) will be presented to nano experts who have contributed to the development of the nano industry and innovation in technology research.
The Prime Minister's Award will be given to MicroToNano, a specialized company in probe cards for semiconductor inspection equipment, and Professor Kim Woo-yeol of Korea Energy Engineering University, who developed indoor cooking fume purification technology through kinetic analysis of nano catalysts.
Lee Seung-ryeol, Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated, "We will strengthen support in various ways, focusing on nano materials, to support corporate growth and create an ecosystem so that the nano convergence industry can continue to grow."
Lee Chang-yoon, 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced plans to establish and foster a (tentatively named) Nano 2.0 technology innovation strategy to discover new nano innovative technologies and reexamine the overall nano technology ecosystem.
