If You Get Married at a Seoul City Public Wedding Hall, the Rental Fee Is 0 Won

Full waiver of venue fees up to 1.2 million KRW
100,000 KRW support for equipment operation costs including chairs

The rental fee for public wedding halls managed by Seoul City, which was up to 1.2 million KRW, will be completely free starting this month. Support for equipment operation costs of up to 1 million KRW per wedding will also begin.

Seoul City announced on the 3rd that it will significantly expand and implement the 'Seoul My Wedding' project using major city facilities starting from the 1st. The city's wedding project opens attractive Seoul facilities such as parks and hanok (traditional Korean houses) as wedding venues and provides comprehensive support for weddings. This second half of the year, 63 couples, and next year, 53 couples are preparing for their weddings.

Seoul City established and implemented the 'Seoul City Ordinance Enforcement Rules on Birth and Childcare Support' from the 1st to fully waive the rental fees for wedding halls in its facilities. Among 24 locations including Buk Seoul Dream Forest, 22 places previously required a rental fee of up to 1.2 million KRW, but with this new regulation, they can now be used free of charge. However, Seongbuk Yehyangjae and Gangbuk Solbat Neighborhood Park, which are district facilities, were excluded due to prior procedures for revising their own regulations.

Equipment operation costs such as chairs and tables will also be supported up to 1 million KRW. Since public weddings incur costs to decorate the venue as a wedding hall, competitive equipment rental companies will be selected through a public contest to support these costs. The average equipment cost for public wedding halls is about 1.65 million KRW, and it is expected to reduce expenses by approximately 40%.

Additionally, eight outdoor spaces preferred by prospective couples have been added as public wedding halls. These include ▲Seoul Museum of History (Plaza) ▲Sejong Center for the Performing Arts (Yein Madang) ▲Seoul Water Reuse Facility Corporation (Maru Park) ▲Seoul Water Reuse Park ▲Magok Plaza ▲Choansan Sky Flower Park ▲Solbat Neighborhood Park ▲Bulamsan Azalea Hill, and reservations can be made through the website starting this month.

Furthermore, Seoul City plans to enhance user convenience by securing banquet spaces and linking with nearby restaurants and parking lots around the wedding halls.

To allow easy access to information such as wedding venues and available reservation dates using major Seoul City facilities, a dedicated website called 'Seoul My Wedding' has also been launched. On the website, users can check images by location, reservation status, costs, and can make reservations or consultations through online chat or a call center.

Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Office, said, "Seoul City has expanded the public wedding hall project to alleviate the difficulties prospective couples face in booking wedding venues and the rising costs of wedding supplies. We hope many couples interested in reasonable and unique weddings will hold their ceremonies through Seoul City's public wedding halls."
