Support for Personal Care Service Costs for Over 5,000 Hours of Cumulative Volunteer Work
Discount Benefits on Vaccination Fees and Sports Facility Usage Fees
Last year, Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, and volunteers attended the appointment ceremony for activists at the Yangcheon-gu Volunteer Camp. Provided by Yangcheon-gu.
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 3rd that it will support up to 500,000 KRW for caregiving service costs for outstanding volunteers, the first such initiative in Seoul, to honor the dedication of volunteers serving the local community. This preferential measure was established to recognize and encourage the dedication of volunteers and to motivate more people to participate in volunteer activities.
Volunteers who have lived in Yangcheon-gu for more than one year and have accumulated over 5,000 hours of volunteer service according to the '1365 Volunteer Portal' (including at least 1,000 hours of service within the district) will be supported with caregiving service costs (applicable only to the individual) up to 500,000 KRW per occasion (within 100,000 KRW per day).
Additionally, volunteers who have completed more than 200 hours of volunteer work within the district in the current year will receive support for influenza vaccination costs. Volunteers with over 100 hours of volunteer service in the previous year will be newly offered benefits such as a 20% discount on usage fees for sports facilities under the district office, admission fees for performances hosted by the Cultural Foundation, public parking fees, and community center class fees upon presenting their volunteer ID.
Eligible recipients of caregiving service support funds can apply by bringing required documents such as caregiving expense receipts and application forms to the Yangcheon-gu Volunteer Center. Influenza vaccination costs will be supported by notifying eligible recipients via text message prior to the vaccination period in the second half of the year, and support will be provided upon submission of vaccination receipts to the center.
To establish this system, the district partially amended the 'Yangcheon-gu Volunteer Activity Support Ordinance and Enforcement Rules' at the end of June to provide a legal basis for support. The district plans to hold an explanatory session through the center in August to promote the updated preferential measures for volunteers.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae stated, “I sincerely thank the volunteers who have long practiced sharing for the local community, and we have prepared this support plan to repay their dedication even a little.” He added, “We will continue to expand support for volunteers so that many people can participate in volunteer activities with pride.”
