Enhancing convenience for domestic and foreign tourists with interpretation services, geographic information guidance, and introduction of tourist courses, contributing to the revitalization of the local tourism industry
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it will operate the ‘Seongsu-dong Mobile Tourist Information Center’ starting July 9 to enhance travel convenience for tourists visiting Seongsu-dong.
The ‘Seongsu-dong Mobile Tourist Information Center’ is a new concept guide service where tourist guides circulate around popular tourist spots such as Seongsu Station area, Seoul Forest, and Atelier Street, providing tourists with various information including interpretation services, geographic information, and introductions to tourist courses.
The tourist guides consist of 25 volunteers fluent in English, Chinese, and Japanese, working in two-person teams in two groups daily (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The guides actively promote the charm of Seongsu-dong and are expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local tourism industry by enhancing convenience for both domestic and international tourists.
There are plans to expand the operation of the ‘Seongsu-dong Mobile Tourist Information Center’ in the future to provide high-quality tourist guide services to more visitors.
Before the full-scale operation, an orientation was held on June 29, and a pilot operation was conducted targeting tourists around Yeonmujang-gil.
Seongdong-gu secured 70 million KRW in city funds as operating resources after being selected in the Seoul City regional tourism revitalization project contest in the first half of April this year, and recruited interpretation volunteers over two months starting in May.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “Through the ‘Seongsu-dong Mobile Tourist Information Center,’ we hope tourists visiting Seongdong-gu can have a comfortable and enjoyable trip,” adding, “We will do our best to make Seongdong-gu a place where anyone wants to visit and stay for a long time.”
