100 Days Until the National Sports Festival... Gyeongnam Province Thoroughly Prepares for the Event

Gyeongsangnam-do has officially begun preparations for the National Sports Festival, which is 100 days away from its opening as of the 3rd.

The 105th National Sports Festival and the 44th National Sports Festival for the Disabled, to be held in October, will take place mainly in Gimhae, where the opening and closing ceremonies and track and field events will be held, as well as in stadiums across 18 cities and counties in the province.

This marks the return of the National Sports Festival to Gyeongnam after 14 years, since the 91st edition was held in Jinju in 2010.

Until the event opens, the province will focus on inspecting facilities and safety conditions, such as VIP reception rooms, the cauldron, and rooftop solar panels at the stadiums, as well as preparing accommodations, cleaning, and quarantine measures to welcome guests.

Comprehensive plans are in place to meticulously oversee all aspects of the event, including transportation and safety measures, the opening and closing ceremonies, and the torch relay.

All-out promotional efforts will also be made through relay challenges led by the governor, mayors, and county heads, the operation of a youth-centered press corps, the official event website, media and bus advertisements, banners, and promotional towers.

On the 3rd, the official Instagram account for the festival will be launched to host online events.

Gifts such as chicken, coffee, hamburger sets, and Baekdongi mascot dolls will be given to 310 people who follow the official account and participate in the event.

The province expects more than 30,000 visitors during the National Sports Festival and over 10,000 during the National Sports Festival for the Disabled to visit Gyeongnam.

Governor Park Wansu stated, "We will do our best to ensure a happy festival where residents and people nationwide can participate, a cultural festival blending culture, arts, and tourism, and a safe festival that everyone can enjoy with peace of mind, by making thorough preparations in all areas during the remaining period." He also requested, "We ask for the cooperation of related organizations and the keen interest of residents to ensure the successful hosting of the National Sports Festival."
