Groundbreaking Ceremony for Seoul Arena in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu, Set to Become K-POP Sanctuary at 2 PM on the 2nd... Many People Praising Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Who Is Reportedly Declining the Spotlight
On the 2nd at 2 PM, the groundbreaking ceremony for Seoul Arena, which is set to become a 'K-POP holy site' attracting global attention, was held in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu.
This event was the most significant groundbreaking ceremony since the establishment of Dobong-gu. In particular, the ceremony held great meaning as it was a project that Dobong-gu had been promoting since 2010.
Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, also prepared for the event with his brightest expression since taking office in the 8th term of the Dobong-gu mayoral election.
Notably, several prominent figures gathered, including Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, Choi Ho-jung, the chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, and Kim Jae-seop, a member of the National Assembly from Dobong-gu affiliated with the People Power Party.
Also attending to celebrate the event were Kim Seong-hwan, a three-term National Assembly member and former mayor of the neighboring Nowon-gu, and Oh Seung-rok, the current mayor of Nowon-gu.
Because there were so many people giving congratulatory speeches, the event became somewhat lengthy.
In this context, Oh Seung-rok, the head of the adjacent district, Nowon-gu, had originally prepared a congratulatory speech but showed the virtue of declining to speak himself due to the large number of speakers, earning positive evaluations.
It is known that Mayor Oh declined to give a speech, implying that his attendance and congratulations alone were sufficient.
Meanwhile, Lee Dong-jin, the former mayor of Dobong-gu who designed Seoul Arena, was reported to have been seated in the general audience as he is no longer in office.
