The Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry marked its 139th anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to strengthening industrial competitiveness and leading future industries.


On the 2nd, Incheon Chamber held the '139th Anniversary Ceremony and the 42nd Commerce Awards Ceremony' at the Songdo Convensia Grand Ballroom.


Park Joobong, Chairman of the Incheon Chamber, said in his commemorative speech, "I am grateful to the businesspeople who are doing their best for the development of the local economy despite the difficult economic environment," and added, "We will cooperate with Incheon City to actively attract and revitalize future growth industries such as bio, semiconductor, and energy, as well as the foundational industries of ports, logistics, and airports, which are the main growth engines of the Incheon economy, and support leading these efforts."


He also emphasized, "Since taking office, I have been listening to the diverse voices of member companies and doing my best to realize the pledges I made about the future of the Chamber of Commerce one by one," and said, "I will continue to work hard to invigorate the local economy and create a future-oriented and hopeful Incheon that everyone dreams of."


Chairman Park promised that as a practical goal for change and innovation at the Incheon Chamber, it would provide close communication and substantial member services based on member-centered management, respond swiftly to rapidly changing business environments, represent corporate interests, and focus on resolving difficulties.

Yoo Jeongbok, Mayor of Incheon, who attended the ceremony, said, "The Incheon Chamber of Commerce has served as a compass for the Incheon economy for 139 years and has been a strong pillar for local economic development despite difficult economic conditions," and added, "I hope that the Incheon Chamber and local companies will join together as Incheon opens the era of GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) 100 trillion and rises as the second-largest economic city in South Korea to advance as a world-class city."


Every year, the Incheon Chamber commemorates its founding by discovering exemplary companies and businesspeople in the region and awarding them in categories such as technology development, labor-management cooperation, social welfare, environmental management, intellectual property management, long-term service exemplary employees, and presenting appreciation plaques to contributors supporting businesses.
