Busan City Operates Customized Education Programs for Seniors
Shilla University (President Heo Namsik) Lifelong Education Center recently held the graduation ceremony for the 24th Shilla Seniors Academy, aimed at fostering a healthy aging society.
The ceremony took place on the 27th of last month at the main auditorium of the Yeum Hall at Shilla University, with Director Kim Sunseok of the Lifelong Education Center and key officials in attendance.
The 'Shilla Seniors Academy' is a customized educational program for seniors, designed to establish a healthy senior culture based on relationships among Busan citizens aged 60 and above. The program includes ▲safety education for seniors ▲senior history and culture interpreters ▲YouTube Silver Creators, among others. Since 2010, Shilla University has been operating this program under commission from Busan City.
After operating 24 sessions, the academy has produced 1,158 graduates. Through the alumni association, graduates actively participate in various leisure activities and community service each year, such as singing contests by cohort, Hope Sharing Campaigns, and helping neighbors in need.
One graduate of the academy shared, "By taking various classes at Shilla Seniors Academy, I was able to actively participate in community activities using what I learned as a foundation," and added, "Shilla Seniors Academy has become a source of vitality in my life by forming bonds with colleagues from diverse backgrounds."
