Ecology, Marine, and Environmental Education Tailored for Elementary School Students
The Gyeongsang Region Education Donation Hub Support Center at Pukyong National University (Director: Lee Sanggil) announced on the 2nd that students from the ornamental fish club 'P.A.R.K' visited local elementary schools to carry out education donation activities.
Four students from the club?Moon Junhyeok (3rd year), Lim Gyuri (3rd year), Son Jinhwan (1st year) from the Department of Fisheries Life Science, and Lee Hanbi (4th year) from the Department of Fisheries Life Medicine (supervising professor: Kim Jongmyeong)?visited Seongcheon Elementary School in Nam-gu, Busan, from the 1st to the 5th, to provide education on ecology, marine life, and the environment.
In this activity aimed at sharing the knowledge they learned through their major and club activities with the local community, they offered tailored education donation programs: for 1st and 2nd graders, a "Protecting Our Sea Creatures" project; for 3rd and 4th graders, "Distinguishing Marine Life"; and for 5th and 6th graders, "How Creatures Survive Underwater."
This program is a representative example of the sustainable shared value creation model that Pukyong National University has operated since being selected as the Gyeongsang Region Education Donation Hub Support Center by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity in 2023.
The Gyeongsang Region Education Donation Hub Support Center is working to discover educational resources and bridge educational gaps between regions by forming an education donation collaboration network with universities, education offices, and the local community.
Students from the National Pukyong University Ornamental Fish Club are volunteering for elementary school education.
