Goheung-gun Wins Consumer-Friendly Administration Award in Consumer Category

Contributions to Reliable Food Production, Sales, and Export

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it received the 'Consumer-Friendly Administration' award at the 「2024 Korea Consumer Awards」 held at the Korea Press Center on the 25th.

The Korea Consumer Awards is an event hosted by the Korea Consumer Awards Committee and Consumer Post, and organized by the Korea Consumer Association and the Cultural Friendship Association of Resident Ambassadors in Korea. Since 2012, it has annually recognized companies and brands that have made efforts to promote consumer rights.

Gohung-gun was able to receive the award in the 'Consumer-Friendly Administration' category as a result of leading administrative efforts from production to sales and export of trustworthy food products for Korean consumers.

In particular, this award is especially meaningful and significant at the midpoint of the 8th local government term, as it recognizes the tireless efforts made to pioneer new markets for agricultural and marine products.

Gohung-gun produces various eco-friendly certified agricultural products such as rice, yuzu, and tomatoes from 515 farms over 1,901 hectares, yielding 237,904 tons.

Additionally, to allow consumers to purchase these high-quality and trustworthy eco-friendly products from Gohung at affordable prices, the county operates its own online shopping mall, 'Gohung Mall.'

Gohung Mall goes beyond a simple online shopping platform; it is at the center of the distribution of Gohung's agricultural and marine products, establishing innovative distribution response systems by signing supply and marketing agreements with various distribution platforms.

Moreover, since 2022, to pioneer new export markets for Gohung's excellent agricultural and marine products, export agreements worth $85.3 million have been signed with 17 distributors in 7 countries including the Czech Republic, France, China, Japan, and Mongolia, promoting new exports of Gohung-gun's agricultural and marine products.

Governor Gong Young-min stated, “The administration is leading efforts to develop domestic and international markets so that farmers and fishermen in Gohung-gun can focus solely on production without worrying about sales channels,” and added, “We will do our best administratively to ensure that excellent and trustworthy food products from Gohung reach the tables of consumers nationwide.”

A county official said, “Thanks to the county's leading efforts to provide consumers with trustworthy food products, we were able to receive such a meaningful award,” and added, “We will continue to implement strategies tailored to each market from eco-friendly agriculture to sales so that consumers can trust and purchase Gohung agricultural products.”
