Gijang-gun Recruiting Participants for Summer Youth English Camp

Collaboration with Busan University of Foreign Studies, Expanding Target to Middle School Students

Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) is recruiting participants for the '2024 Summer Gijang-gun Youth English Camp' starting from July 2 to coincide with the summer vacation.

This English camp, organized by Busan University of Foreign Studies, is a residential English activity program conducted with native-speaking instructors. Rather than relying on rote English education, the camp encourages participation in a variety of everyday English experience activities, which helps motivate students to learn English and boosts their confidence, resulting in high satisfaction among both students and parents.

Notably, starting this year, the camp, which was previously open only to 4th and 5th grade elementary students, has been expanded to include 6th graders and middle school students. A total of over 500 participants will be selected: 432 elementary students and 70 middle school students. The expanded middle school English camp includes not only engaging everyday English experience activities but also many programs that support academic learning.

The middle school program will recruit 70 participants for a 10-night, 11-day camp from July 23 to August 2. The elementary school program will be held in three separate sessions, each lasting 5 nights and 6 days, from August 5 to August 24, with 144 participants recruited for each session.

Applications for the middle school program can be submitted online from July 2 to July 4 (10:00~17:00), and for the elementary program from July 9 to July 11 (10:00~17:00). The participation fee is 100,000 KRW for middle school students and 50,000 KRW for elementary students from general households, while students from basic livelihood recipient households can participate free of charge.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "I hope that many students will participate in this camp and that it will be an opportunity for self-development through experiences of living and communicating together, as well as improving their English skills. We will do our best to ensure that the young talents of Gijang can grow into global leaders through the English camp."
