Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun Discusses 'Convergent Bio Cooperation' with Harvard Professor Luke Lee Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun (center) is taking a commemorative photo on the 2nd with Luke Lee, a world-renowned scholar in the field of convergent bio and professor at Harvard University, and Jo Gyu-jin, professor of Biophysics at Sungkyunkwan University.

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun met with Luke Lee, a professor at Harvard Medical School, to discuss ways to expand exchanges in the field of convergence bio.


On the 2nd, Mayor Lee held a meeting in his office with Professor Luke Lee and Professor Cho Gyu-jin from the Department of Biophysics at Sungkyunkwan University to discuss plans to revitalize Suwon's convergence bio sector and exchange programs for Korean science and technology talents.


Professor Luke Lee is a world-renowned scholar in the convergence bio field and received the Ho-Am Prize in 2010. He also gave a special lecture at the '2024 Gwanggyo Bio Week' event held at the Suwon Convention Center last May.


Professor Luke Lee said, "I understand that Suwon is a city with excellent industrial and cultural infrastructure. If this outstanding infrastructure converges with the bio industry, it will have unlimited growth potential."


Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I hope to promote exchange programs that enable Suwon city officials and students to develop global competencies through close cooperation with excellent universities such as Harvard University and Sungkyunkwan University," and added, "Please provide much advice and support for the development of Suwon's bio industry."
