Ulleung County Holds Press Conference Marking 2nd Anniversary of 8th Elected Administration

On June 2, Ulleung County in North Gyeongsang Province held a meeting with resident journalists in the county office conference room to mark the second anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration.


This meeting was organized to reflect on the past two years with the resident journalists and to discuss and share opinions on the new direction for the future.

The meeting began with the screening of the video "Ulleung Transformation: Turning Point," introductions of the attendees, and a brief explanation of the plans for the remaining two years at this turning point.


First, through the "Emerald Ulleung Campaign," which utilized the city brand developed last year, the county presented the direction for residents and administration to move forward, and expressed its ambition to raise Ulleung's recognition and favorability in preparation for welcoming one million tourists by developing new symbols for Ulleung.


In addition, Ulleung County plans to develop a dedicated font for Ulleungdo, creating unique symbols, advertisements, and signboards using this distinctive typeface, and to utilize them as tourism resources.


The meeting continued with discussions on key issues related to Ulleungdo, such as the special law to support remote islands like Ulleungdo and Heuksando, preparations for welcoming one million tourists, the LPG supply project, and power supply measures in line with the expansion of tourism infrastructure.


County Governor Nam Hankwon said, "I will not lose my original intention and will listen carefully to the opinions of residents and reflect them in our policies," adding, "Together, we will realize the value of 'New Hope! New Ulleung!' and make living in Ulleung something to be proud of and a source of happiness."
