The North Gyeongsang Provincial Council held its 348th extraordinary session at 2 p.m. on the 2nd and elected the leadership for the second half of the 12th council, who will lead the council for the next two years. Park Seongman (People Power Party, Yeongju 2) was elected as the council chairperson, while Bae Jinseok (People Power Party, Gyeongju 1) and Choi Byeongjun (People Power Party, Gyeongju 3) were elected as vice chairpersons.

Park Seongman, upon his election, stated, "The foundation of farming is the land, and the foundation of politics is the people," expressing his commitment to listen to the will of the people with an initial mindset. He showed his determination to realize the kind of politics that the residents desire and expect.

As a five-term council member, Park Seongman has been at the forefront of the history of local autonomy and the local era. He is often associated with the titles of "youngest" and "first" in various contexts. As the leader of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council, he is highly regarded for his understanding of what it takes for North Gyeongsang Province to take the next leap forward while living up to the expectations of its residents.

Chairperson Park has clearly stated, "There are times when we join hands with the executive branch and move forward together, but if they are headed in the wrong direction, it is our job to block them and hold them back." He expressed his intention to fulfill the council's fundamental role of oversight and checks, as much as communication and cooperation.

With the most extensive political experience among previous chairpersons, expectations are high for Park's leadership. Because he is known for always speaking his mind, both the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government and the North Gyeongsang Office of Education are paying close attention to his actions.

As he leads the second half of the 12th North Gyeongsang Provincial Council, Park Seongman emphasized that understanding public sentiment starts with field visits, saying, "I will visit many sites with the heads of the executive branch and truly gauge the will of the people," and stressed, "All members of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council will unite their efforts to make North Gyeongsang Province a place worth living in."
